Another Page Rank Story
It seems that now there is a “real” PageRank update going on (as opposed to just a few changes penalizing certain sites). This seems to be the long-awaited Google update to every site’s toolbar PageRank. It will probably be a few days until it all settles down and we find out for sure what our new PageRank is.
Here are a few good stories about it:
ProBlogger – a good overview.
Andy Beard – great data on some top blogs and how their Page Rank has been changing. Andy has been covering the changes extensively.
Courtney Tuttle – lists some tools that allow you to check your Page Rank on many Google data centers at once. This is great when Page Rank is in flux like this.
I know I said I did not care much about Page Rank, but I am kind of excited because so far, this blog seems to be getting a PageRank of 4 on most data centers. I hope it stays at Page Rank 4! I only started this blog in August, so it has only been a little over two months since I started, and 4 would be a great ranking for such a new blog.
So, remember, Page Rank does not mean anything, unless you get a good Page Rank; then you can be proud of it!
(just kidding)

Hey Pat,
I never really cared about page rank because my blog is about a month old. With this past update I was given a PR2 so I am happy with that.
It’s amazing how many larger sites were downgraded.
Hi Steve, PR 2 is good for such a new site. Yes, I really don’t understand why Google is doing this.
You should be excited about a PR4 Pat! That’s great – congrats!
Congrats! I was rewarded with a PR 4 as well. It is a good day.
Thanks! Congrats on your PR 4 too, Peter.
Congrats! I hope you’re right about things settling down – despite working harder than ever on my sites this summer – most of them have dropped, haha.
Oh well, who cares about dumb ol’ page rank anyway?
And Congrats, Pat, ahead of time, on nearly breaking the supernal 100,000 mark for your Alexa ranking. I expect you will be there very soon.
People still care about silly things like PR?
